We will see Chhapaak Review, Script Analysis, Star Performances, Direction and Music and my final words on Chhapaak. Starring Deepika Padukone,, Vikrant Massey, Madhurjeet Sarghi, Ipshita Chakraborty. Movie Chhapaak is directed by Meghna Gulzar based on Acid Attacks taken place in India year by year. Can Chhapaak manage to entertain the audience? Or else you will be disappointed. Let’s See Chhapaak Review. Also, If you haven’t seen the review of Dabangg 3, then see it. Movie: Chhapaak Director: Meghna Gulzar Cast: Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey, Madhurjeet Sarghi, Ipshita Chakraborty Budget: 45 Crores Ratings: 3. 0/5. 0 The movie is all about the acid attacks of India. Malti (Deepika Padukone) is also one of the of the acid attack survivor and the movie story is fully based on her. The whole story is covered 13 years of her life from Class 12th to last hearing of the court. Also in the movie you can see the ups and downs of her life. The script or story of the movie starts with Malti is searching for job where she want to earn some amount of money and help her family to grew up. Amol (Vikrant Massey) runs an NGO named Chaaya where he helps the Acid Attack the Survivors. Malti Joins with Amol and helps the Acid Attack Survivors. Also she is fighting for the PIL (Public Interest Litigation) to ban the open sale of acid in the market. Also she succeed in the end on banning the Acid from open sale but you can say for this acid banning step she fought a lot in her life. She also taught us a lesson that a few drops of acid can’t ruin her whole life. Meghna Gulzar has written and directed the whole story of the movie. Before Chhapaak she has directed Talvar and Raazi which are declared HIT in the Box Office. She has not written all the scripts solely but she has taken help from other writters. Here, Atika Chohan helped a lot in the story and dialogues. I can also say the movie is already ended in the Intermission. Where everything is declared, but what is remaining after the intermission. The script is accurately managed with a nice pace and i can say everything is successful till the first half. Yes in some parts the movie not looks good like, in the love angle between the Amol and Meghna, Family remained out of focus and unnecessary courtroom sequences. Deepika Padukone done very well with her character as always. Malti’s life is full of complexity with Ups and Downs where Meghna Gulzar needed an professional like Deepika who can normalise the character completely. Also the face says everything in the whole movie. Vikrant Massey was fit to the story but he can’t step forward, we can also say he has not got a major character here. Madhurjeet Sarghi who plays the lawyer is phenomenal at what she does. Ipshita Chakraborty is brilliant in her cameo. I can say Chhapaak is labeled with Raazi, but not labelled with Talvar, here Meghna Gulzar misses the mark. In some parts you can see lot of things are missing. She has everything with her but she is confused what to do next. All i can say the movie is completed in the 1st half and meghna takes an unconventional route to conclude the climax. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy failed to impress the audience with Nok Jhok song but Arijit Singh once again entertained the whole audience with title track Chhapaak. Background music is also 50–50 that could have done much better. Overall Everything is said and done, Chhapaak manages everything before the intermission but second half is full of boring. It shows the malti ‘s pain but not focused on the journey of recovered. All i can say Acid Attack is the biggest Crime. It stretches the disturbance!

Credit... Fox Star Studios Chhapaak Directed by Meghna Gulzar Drama 2 hours The Indian drama “Chhapaak” succeeds in balancing extremes. It is at once a pleasing and buoyant inspirational story, and a realistic depiction of the brutal aftermath of acid attacks. The movie is based on the life of the activist Laxmi Agarwal, who was burned with acid in New Delhi 2005, and has since become an advocate for banning the sale of acid in India. Details like names and ages have been changed, but the substance of Agarwal’s story remains the same. Deepika Padukone plays Malti, a young woman who is assaulted by a family friend, after she rejects his romantic advances. In flashbacks, she recalls the crime and her arduous recovery; in the present, she takes a job helping other survivors and, with a team of female lawyers, tries to change Indian law to reflect the seriousness of the violence committed against her. The director Meghna Gulzar takes a light approach to this heavy subject, using familiar stylistic flourishes to soften the story. Though there are no staged musical numbers, the score includes several songs, with the first introduced in the immediate aftermath of the attack on Malti. The music draws the story into the heightened, emotionally manageable space of melodrama, an approach that remains consistent throughout. There are scenes of anguish, but the film doesn’t make a spectacle of pain. And as Malti, Padukone is by turns inquisitive, watchful and serene but never maudlin. The visual effects used to represent Malti’s burns are a rather extraordinary mix of makeup and prosthetics, which subtly change as she receives treatments. Gulzar has also cast real survivors of acid assaults and the camera rests just as plainly on their faces as it does upon Malti’s. Gulzar emphasizes the dignity of survivors and the joy that exists even after devastating injury. Many of the most moving scenes feature Malti and real survivors playing and fantasizing about future treatments, their faces lit up not in pain but in laughter. Chhapaak Not rated. In Hindi, with subtitles. Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes.

January 10, 2020 6:37PM PT Director Meghna Gulzar and Indian superstar Deepika Padukone are affecting without excess in this fact-based drama about the aftermath of a horrible crime. There’s a scene late in “ Chhapaak, ” writer-director Meghna Gulzar ’s stirringly crafted and intelligently uplifting fact-based drama, where Malti (Deepika Padukone), the survivor of a horrific assault, tentatively expresses her warm feelings to Amol (Vikrant Massey), the crusading activist who has taken up the cause of women who have suffered similar attacks. But, true to form for this fiery idealist, Amol gruffly interrupts her romantic overtures. “This stuff, ” he insists, “belongs in the movies. ” It’s tempting to read the exchange as Gulzar’s meta commentary on her own movie, which scrupulously avoids the emotional and stylistic extremes that, for better or worse, have come to define much of contemporary Indian cinema (and not just for Western audiences). To put it another way: If you walk into “ Chhapaak ” expecting typical Bollywood razzamatazz, you may be disappointed. There are no lavish production numbers, no exhilarating romantic interludes, no slo-mo acrobatics of any sort — and only two songs, neither of which are sung by anyone onscreen. On the other hand, if you’re up for a conventional yet compelling tale of an exceptional young woman who overcomes brutish mistreatment and regains control of her destiny, you won’t miss the usual song-and-dance at all. Working with co-writer Atika Chohan, Gulzar has taken a reasonable amount of dramatic license in telling the real-life story of Laxmi Agarwal, a 15-year-old New Delhi girl who, in 2005, was splashed with acid and hideously disfigured by a thirtysomething man whose stalkerish advances she had rebuffed. In “Chhapaak, ” the victim is slightly older, and known as Malti. Although Gulzar presents the attack early in the film — shockingly, but with sympathetic discretion — she doesn’t explicitly detail motivation for the crime until a third-act flashback. In the meantime, she smartly focuses on Malti’s efforts to will herself out of despair and depression, undergo a series of restorative surgeries, and press a legal case against her attacker. Malti’s chief allies are Archana Bajaj (Madhurjeet Sarghi), a crusading attorney who rails against a national legal system that appears to treat acid assaults on women (a commonplace crime in India) as scarcely worse than misdemeanors, and the aforementioned Amol, the type of single-minded zealot who would serve as buzzkill at a party celebrating a legal victory because, well, he didn’t think the ruling went far enough. (It speaks volumes about Vikrant Massey’s underlying charisma that his character doesn’t come across as a complete pill. ) Occasionally calling to mind socially conscious Warner Bros. melodramas of the 1930s, “Chhapaak” repeatedly emphasizes how ludicrously easy it is (or at least was, until recently) for acid-tossers to procure their assault weapon of choice throughout India. Worse, as attorney Bajaj explains in a key scene that is all the more potent for being so matter-of-factly subdued, the attackers are able to avoid appropriately long prison sentences because, according to the criminal code, throwing acid at someone is no more heinous than dousing them with hot tea. (A nice touch: Bajaj has ample time to do her crusading because her husband, played by Anand Tiwari, assumes without complaint most of the day-to-day parenting responsibilities for their daughter — whose growth, not incidentally, is a primary indication of time passages in the film. ) As Malti, Indian superstar Deepika Padukone relies less on exceptionally convincing makeup than straight-from-the-heart conviction to give her multifaceted performance the solid ring of truth. Neither she nor Gulzar resort to undue yanking of heartstrings while charting the evolution of Malti’s resolve and recognition of her self-worth. At the same time, however, Padukone brings welcome touches of infectious humor and tart sassiness to the character, particularly while dealing with Amol and interacting with real-life acid-maimed women who appear (most notably, and affectingly, during a train trip) in bit parts. Two observations on the film’s structure are in order. First: When the audience finally gets to see the untouched beauty of Malti in the third-act flashback, we’re brutally reminded of the sheer monstrousness of her attacker, just at the perfect time to make the film’s resolution even more satisfying. On the other hand, be forewarned: The epilogue is quite capable of slapping the smile right off your face. Vertical Entertainment has picked up U. S. and U.
